The newest addition to my fragrance collection

Oh yes, La Vie est Belle by Lancome, how amazing you smell. I’ve been wanting this fragrance for ages since I’ve smelled it in Sephora and I finally got it!

Words cannot describe how amazing this perfume smells. It’s very sophisticated and in my opinion, can be a winter and a summer scent because it has that note of patchouli which is warm. It’s very strong so only a spritz or two will do and last for the rest of the day. And if you spray it on your hair? It will last for days between washes. It’s main notes are Iris, Patchouli and Gourmand and together they smell heavenly. This is the perfume that gets compliments and stares from people who are wondering what you’re wearing (believe me, it’s happened). It is pretty pricey but you only need about 2 sprays everyday so it will last for a few months at least.

Sephora Intensive Instant Moisturizer Review

This has been such a long awaited review ever since I got my Sephora haul ages ago. I’ve been completely swamped with midterms and school that I couldn’t devote much time and attention to my blog. Honestly speaking, ever since the 2nd week of school there hasn’t been one week where I didn’t have a midterm. Crazy I know. This is finally the first weekend I’ve had where I don’t have a midterm the following week. And to tell you the truth, it feels SO damn good to sit around and catch up on all my TV shows and shop online and just…do NOTHING. Anyways, let’s get right into the review!

This moisturizer is the thicker more hydrating version of the Instant Moisturizer, which I have previously used before and loved. It was perfect for spring and summer because it moisturized well and didn’t feel heavy on the skin. However now that the weather has took a drastic turn (It snowed really hard last week already) I needed to up my skincare routine and go for a more hydrating moisturizer. This moisturizer did win out over the Josie Maran Argan Oil Light and the original Argan Oil! For starters, it smells really good! However, when you apply on your skin it absorbs and doesn’t leave your face smelling like Sephora. It is very hydrating; it’s perfect for oily/combo skin that need moisturization as the weather gets colder.

It is pretty gentle on the skin, as it says on the box, it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. It has little iridescent particles in it that kind of leave a shimmer on your skin so it illuminates, but it is a VERY subtle effect. You’d have to stare at yourself up close and personal in the mirror to tell. It is non-comedogenic and formulated without parabens and oils so it hasn’t made me break out. I can always trust Sephora brand products to not break me out because they don’t contain any parabens and other harmful ingredients. Also, it’s thick enough to be worn as a night cream and light enough to be worn during the day. It all depends on how much you put on.

It comes in a jar container without a spatula, so it’s not as hygienic as pump moisturizers or the ones that do come with spatulas. However, I always put my moisturizer on as soon as I get out of the shower, making sure that my hands don’t touch a lot of surfaces to collect bacteria.

All in all, I really like this moisturizer. It’s affordable and it moisturizes well if you have oily/combo skin. It doesn’t leave your face oily or tacky and doesn’t feel heavy.

Mini-Beauty/Clothing Haul

Image So I desperately needed to get a new moisturizer because I was reduced to scraping the little bits left of my old one, and so I went to the mall yesterday. Surprisingly, it was quite busy, maybe due to the fact that it was a Friday and that all the school kids were now out of school and decided to head over. Instead of just picking up a moisturizer I happened to pick up some other things. ImageI went to target and got these Noxzema Anti-Blemish Pads and picked up a concealer and blotting papers from E.L.F. ImageMy next stop was of course…Forever21. I absolutely LOVE their leggings. I literally live in them. They’re so comfy and they don’t look like leggings but like pants. They’re all 95% cotton (YAY) and only 5% spandex. I hate, hate, hate wearing spandex, except from when I’m working out, because it just clings too tight and urghhh, you guys know what I mean hahah. So I picked up these two leggings and I must say I adore the prints. One of them even has zips on the sides of the ankles. Well worth picking up a few of these, because as it gets colder, you’ll need these warm leggings. I then finally headed over to Sephora to get a moisturizer. Prior to going, I had read reviews of some of their most popular moisturizers and I determined to choose between two: Sephora’s Intensive Instant Moisturizer and Josie Maran Argan Oil Light. I tested them out, and even asked the opinion of two sales associates and the winner was the Intensive Instant Moisturizer. ImageImageI was really excited about trying the Josie Maran Argan Oil but when I tried it and let it soak into my skin, I could still see a subtle oil sheen. And as a person with oily skin…that is a definite no. So I went ahead and got the Intensive Instant Moisturizer. I previously used the Instant Moisturizer and loved it but never got a chance to repurchase, so now as the weather is getting cooler and my skin is (surprisingly) getting a bit drier I went for the Intensive because I wanted a bit more hydration. I will be reviewing this moisturizer in the coming weeks or so, so stay tuned for that!

Have any of you guys tried the Josie Maran Argan Oil as a moisturizer? What do you think about it? 😡

Bliss That’s Incredi-Peel First Impression!

I have heard a lot about Bliss’s incredi-peel pads that contained glycolic acid, an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid). They are supposed to do the same that spa strength glycolic peels did, but I’m pretty sure they have a lower concentration of glycolic acid than actual spa treatments contain. However, that doesn’t mean it’s not effective. Now I received 2 samples and the directions on the back of the packages read to wipe all over a clean, dry face. However, I did apply toner and waited for it to sink in and dry before applying this pad. Word of caution: Do not use this pad with a product that contains a BHA, (beta hydroxy acid, like salcylic acid).

The pad is square, and seems to be very concentrated with the product, meaning it’s like a My Beauty Diary mask, lots of product. However, because of this you can actually cut the pad into two pieces instead of just using that one. If your face is small enough it might even be cut into 4 pieces but I wouldn’t bet on it. Cutting the pad into pieces maximizes the use and gives you more of your money’s worth.

Now, after I applied toner and waited for it to sink it, I wiped this pad, well a piece of it since I cut it, all over my face especially in areas that had dark spots that hadn’t faded yet. Then I waited for it to dry. The product felt quite sticky and after it dried and sunk in, my face still felt quite sticky so much that I barely needed a moisturizer, but I still used a tiny amount. I patted the moisturizer into my face instead of rubbing it so as to not disturb the product already on my face. It’s best advised to use this pad peel at night because that’s when the skin regenerates and so the product will work better.

The next morning after I woke up, my face looked brighter and smoother. I did not, however, notice any drastic or immediate changes in the fading of dark marks on my skin. And that’s understandable because I only used it for one night. I’m sure with continued use, I will see improvements.

Now the price for this is $49 for 30 pads. Given that they can be cut in half and used for longer, I say it’s 60 pads then. It is a bit pricey for a product that you use once, or twice, and then throw away but I think it would be worth the money. However, I don’t think that your skin will continue looking like it did when you WERE using the pads, if you stopped using it. All in all, it might be a good investment. If you’ve ever tried these then let me know what you think of them!

Sephora Collection: Precision Pore Cleansing Pad Review

This little product was what I picked up at Sephora yesterday and have started using twice daily since I got it. I had been looking into a cleansing pad/brush/system lately because I wanted to get a deeper cleaning than what I was getting just using my fingers. I wasn’t quite ready to throw in the towel and get a Clairsonic yet, but I didn’t want to keep using my fingers to cleanse. So, I grabbed this little badboy right here because it looked and felt gentle enough for my skin but not so gentle that it wouldn’t give me the effects that I wanted. It wasn’t until I had started writing this review that I looked up this cleansing pad on the Sephora website. It has a rating of  4.5 out of 5 stars! That was quite surprising because for a price this cheap, it had the ratings of a much higher end product. However, this cleansing pad has earned all of its stars rightfully.

It has a suction cup on the back that could be suctioned onto your cleanser, which I have done. The suction cup also acts as a handle that you hold while rubbing the pad all over your face. The silicone bristles are gentle and exfoliate the skin well. Since you’re manually massaging your face with the pad, you can put as much or as little pressure that you want. All you need to do is squirt a bit of cleanser onto the pad, and get to work on your face. I’ve noticed that it cleanses so much better than I’ve cleansed with just my fingers and it exfoliates my skin as well.

The results:

My skin felt tons cleaner and smoother. When I applied my toner using a cotton ball, it seemed to glide over my face so smoothly, something  it has never done before. When I applied serum and moisturizer, it was then that I felt the actual softness and smoothness of my skin. My skin even looked better after scrubbing with this! It looked clearer and there was a visible smoothness to it as well.

Needless to say, I was surprised. That this little silicone pad could have done so much. It maximized the effects of my cleanser as well as my moisturizer, toner and serum, by cleaning out the pores and allowing all of the products to better absorb into my skin, therefore working better.

I am in love. 😀

My apologies for not posting much as of late, it’s been a busy few weeks with midterms and quizzes and such. Time has been flying like no other as well. However, I went shopping yesterday and ended up scoring some cute boots as well as a ton of Sephora samples! I had only walked into Sephora to grab one thing but ended up getting 14 samples as well, all thanks to a very generous sales assistant. 😀 And that made me very happy, because, who doesn’t like free stuff? So, I thought I’d share some of my first impressions of these products and so first impression reviews will be coming soon starting this week! 🙂

Favorite Summer Fragrances

I’ve always been a fan of light scents. By light I don’t mean a scent that easily fades, but a scent that lingers and isn’t too overpowering. I’ve never liked strong, heavy scents that middle-aged women seem to love. Needless to say, I love these 3 fragrances above.

Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue is so crisp, clean and citrus-y, that it’s perfect for summer days. The scent also stays on for a quite a while and smells fresh even at the end of the day. I love the freshness of this scent. Seriously, this has to be one of my favorite fragrance. This full-sized bottle can be found at Sephora for $87.

You can tell how much I love this Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy fragrance because of how much has been used already. I can wear this scent all year round and it smells amazing. I get compliments on this scent all the time and it also lasts for a really long time. It smells primarily like sandalwood mixed with a lot of other delish scents (that my nose can’t pick up), creating a musky, sweet fragrance. This 1.0 oz bottle can be found at Sephora for $52.

And lastly, I love the DKNY Be Delicious because it reminds me of summer so much. It smells like green apples and citrus, but it is a bit overpowering, which is why I don’t wear it that often. Even though it goes on a bit overpowering the scent fades a little throughout the day and gets muted down. I have the gift set which can be found at Sephora for $78 or the 1.7 oz bottle for $65.

Review: Sephora Instant Moisturizer!

What it claims: – Intensive moisturizing, radiance boosting and wrinkle fighting.

It’s also formulated without any mineral oil, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, GMOs and triclosan.

In my opinion, I would say this moisturizer is pretty light and hydrating. It had a very nice smell which smelled really distinct. It did have pigments in it that made my skin appear brighter and shimmery. A little bit really goes a long way. Personally, I love the texture of this moisturizer, it went on so smoothly like silk and didn’t make my face feel greasy at all! As for the wrinkle fighting, I have no wrinkles on my face, but it’s better to fight wrinkles sooner rather than later when the wrinkles are already formed!

Definitely a product I would buy again.
