Fall 2012 Beauty Trends

Since Fall is slowly but surely approaching us I think it’s time to do a post on what the ‘new’ Fall 2012 beauty trends are. Every season brings new trends and I think it’s fun to experiment with different trends and switch things up once in a while.

1. The Nude Lip

Yes, it’s back, the bright popping colors of summer are fading away to reveal the nude lip. This look has been seen at Phillip Lim, Jason Wu, Derick Lam, Prabal Gurung, Tommy Hilfiger, and more.  Barely there nudes and soft pinks make the perfect statement and also contrast well with…

2. The Fresh Dewy face

We’re talking about minimal face makeup to give an effect of a ‘naked’ fresh face. The look is supposed to be luminous and glowing so you might want to skip the bronzer and opt for a nice highlighter.

3. Bold, Defined Brows

Thick, bold brows give a dramatic effect to the face. These brows graced runways such as Vera Wang, Burberry Prorsum, Christopher Kane, Marc Jacobs and more.

4. Smudged eyes

If you thought Autumn is the time to be all neat and proper, you’re wrong. Smudged, messy eyes were the thing at the Marc Jacobs show.

5. Bold Eyes

It’s all about the eyes this fall; designers let the eyes run wild by opting for bold colors such as the jade/peacock colors at Jason Wu, the vibrant blue at Prabal Gurung, the red lids at Donna Karan and Marc Jacobs and the glossy eyes at Peter Som.

In summary: The concept of these Fall looks is a clean, fresh dewy face with minimal blush, nude lips and bold, dramatic brows and eyes. The face has taken a step back, allowing the eyes to completely dominate. I love the vibrant, bold eye-shadows used and the bold statement brows. The nude lip probably won’t last for very long, giving way to the darker plums and hues as winter approaches. One trend I’m really excited to try though, is the red eye as shown on the Donna Karan runway.
