Since my BB Cream finally came and I’ll be doing a full in depth review of it in the later weeks, I wanted to share my knowledge of what a BB Cream is. BB stands for Blemish Balm and was originated in Germany for patients who’ve had plastic or laser skin surgery. The BB cream helped their skin heal and rejuvenate as well as protect it from the outside environments. The rage caught on in Korea when actresses began wearing BB cream and raved about how great it was for their skin. Only until recently has BB cream been catching on in North America and Europe. Why haven’t we discovered this sooner?! LOL. The leading brands right now are of course, Asian skincare brands like Missha, Skin79, Lioele, L’EGERE, Etude House, The Face Shop, Skin Food, etc because they’ve had time to perfect their BB creams, and to make it do what it’s supposed to do. American and European brands are catching on but they’re only now starting out on the BB cream development and many of their BB creams are very similar to tinted moisturizer.
Basically, BB cream is supposed to be an ‘all-in-one’ product. It’s supposed to act as a sunblock, foundation, primer, concealer, have anti-inflammatory properties, soothe and whiten or firm your skin. By whitening your skin, I don’t mean bleach your skin a lighter color, but it helps to even out your skin-tone and fade dark patches or marks caused by pimples and hyper-pigmentation. Many BB creams also have moisturizing properties, an SPF of 20 or above and anti-wrinkling properties. Every brand is different and includes different ingredients into their products, and there are literally hundreds of BB creams out on the market so finding the perfect one is quite a task.
Also, Missha is offering a free full sized BB cream gift to new customers upon their first purchase! And you only have to purchase at least $1 worth. So I’ll definitely be checking that out 😀
